A shocking arrest in Kurla has triggered a nationwide investigation after a 19-year-old student was picked up in a joint operation by the Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad and the Delhi Police Special Cell.
The accused, identified as Muhammad Hamad Siddiqui, is now at the center of a multi-state terror conspiracy probe, while his father has come forward with an emotional appeal, claiming complete ignorance about the allegations.
Early Morning Raid Leaves Family in Shock
According to Siddiqui’s father, Jalaluddin, the entire operation unfolded suddenly in the early hours.
He revealed that officials arrived at their residence between 4–5 AM, but he was not present at the time. When he returned, he was informed that his son had already been taken away.
“I had no idea about anything. They asked me to sign some papers later at the police station,” he said, visibly shaken.
“My Son Is Innocent,” Says Father
Defending his son strongly, Jalaluddin insisted that Hamad is a Class 12 student with a clean background.
“He is not a criminal. He is a good boy who listens to his family,” he said, adding that the family is struggling to understand how he could be linked to such serious allegations.
Multi-State Terror Plot Busted
Officials confirmed that the arrest is part of a larger crackdown across multiple states, including Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha.
So far, three individuals have been arrested, allegedly linked to a conspiracy to carry out blasts in Delhi and other locations.
The operation reportedly prevented a potential terror attack, marking a major success for security agencies.
Who Are the Other Accused?
Authorities have identified two other suspects:
- Mosaib Ahmad (alias Sonu/Kalam) from Thane district
- Bada Imran, suspected to be a key handler linked to ISIS propaganda networks, arrested in Odisha
Investigators believe that the accused were in contact through online extremist channels.
Shocking Evidence Recovered
During the operation, agencies recovered several suspicious items, including:
- Electronic components like wires and circuits
- A toy train allegedly modified for carrying explosives
- Digital manuals explaining how to assemble IEDs
Preliminary findings suggest that the accused were attempting to build a low-intensity explosive device, possibly guided by handlers online.
Radicalisation Angle Under Scanner
Officials suspect that the accused were radicalised through online extremist content, raising fresh concerns over digital propaganda networks influencing youth.
The role of social media platforms and encrypted channels is now under intense scrutiny.
What Happens Next?
Security agencies are continuing their investigation to:
- Trace the full network behind the plot
- Identify more suspects or sleeper cells
- Analyze digital evidence and communication trails
This case could uncover a larger terror module operating across states.
Was the terror attack actually carried out?
No. Authorities confirmed that the plot was foiled before execution, preventing any damage or casualties.
Is the arrested student proven guilty?
No. The investigation is still ongoing. The accused are currently under probe, and no final conclusion has been reached yet.
