“UCC to One Nation One Election” Modi Unveils Big Political Roadmap, Targets Congress

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday laid out an ambitious political and governance roadmap, highlighting key reforms like Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and One Nation One Election (ONOE) as central to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s future vision, while launching a sharp attack on the Congress.

Addressing party workers virtually on the foundation day of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Modi described the party’s journey as one driven by “service” rather than power, positioning it as a force focused on long-term nation-building.

Modi Lists Major Reforms, Says ‘Mission Still On’

Highlighting the BJP’s achievements, the Prime Minister pointed to several key decisions taken over the years, including the removal of outdated colonial-era laws, the construction of the new Parliament building, and welfare measures aimed at economically weaker sections.

He also referred to major legislative moves like the ban on triple talaq and the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), along with the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, calling them examples of decisive governance.

According to Modi, these steps reflect the party’s commitment to delivering on promises and transforming governance structures in India. He emphasised that the reform process is ongoing and will continue in the coming years.

Focus on UCC and One Nation One Election

The Prime Minister stressed that discussions around Uniform Civil Code and One Nation One Election are gaining momentum across the country. He said these initiatives aim to strengthen national unity and improve governance efficiency.

Modi presented these reforms as part of a broader vision to create a “Viksit Bharat” and a self-reliant India, adding that the party remains committed to pursuing bold decisions in the national interest.

Sharp Attack on Congress and ‘Family Politics’

In a direct political attack, Modi criticised the Congress, alleging that it prioritised dynastic politics over national interest. He contrasted this with the BJP’s approach, which he said is based on equal respect and opportunities for all citizens.

Referring to past political phases, Modi said that public trust in the BJP grew gradually as people looked for an alternative to traditional power-centric politics.

‘Nation First’ Politics Highlighted

The Prime Minister reiterated that the BJP operates on the principle of “Nation First,” which he described as a defining shift in Indian politics. He said the party has moved away from vote-bank politics and focused instead on development and governance.

He also highlighted India’s evolving global role, stating that the country is now actively building strong relations with nations worldwide.

BJP Nears 50-Year Milestone

Looking ahead, Modi noted that the BJP is approaching its 50th year, calling it a significant milestone. He urged party workers to adapt to changing technologies and set new goals to strengthen the party’s future.

The BJP, founded in 1980 after emerging from the Jan Sangh movement, has since become one of India’s dominant political forces, producing leaders like Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Narendra Modi.
