The Bharatiya Janata Party on Friday unveiled its first list of 27 candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, setting the stage for a high-stakes political battle in the state.
Among the prominent names, Union Minister L Murugan will contest from Avanashi, while former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has been fielded from Mylapore.

NDA Seat-Sharing Formula
- All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam will contest 169 seats
- BJP will contest 27 seats
- Pattali Makkal Katchi gets 18 seats
- Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam gets 11 seats
This alliance aims to challenge the ruling coalition in the state.
When Are Tamil Nadu Elections?
Tamil Nadu will go to polls in a single phase on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4. The tenure of the 234-member Assembly ends on May 10.
The main contest is expected between the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led alliance and the NDA bloc led by AIADMK and BJP.
