“Unconditional Apology!” — Dubey Backtracks After Biju Patnaik Controversy

Nishikant Dubey on Wednesday issued an unconditional apology after his remarks about former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik triggered a major political controversy.

Clarifying his position, Dubey said his earlier comments were misinterpreted and insisted that he holds Biju Patnaik in high respect. “Biju Babu has always been and will remain a towering statesman for us. If my statement has hurt anyone’s sentiments, I unconditionally apologise,” he said.

Says Remarks Were Misunderstood

Dubey explained that his comments were originally directed at the Nehru-Gandhi family and not at Biju Patnaik. He stated that his views were personal and had been wrongly interpreted in public discourse.

He added that any confusion linking his remarks directly to Biju Patnaik was unintended.

The controversy began after Dubey’s March 27 statements, where he made serious allegations related to India’s foreign and defence policies during the 1960s.

He claimed that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had links with the United States and the CIA during the 1962 India-China war.

Dubey also alleged that Biju Patnaik acted as a link between the US government, the CIA, and Nehru, handling sensitive defence-related communications.

In his remarks, Dubey said the war with China was fought with American support and alleged that intelligence agencies were involved in operations related to Tibet.

He also referred to historical letters and claimed that strategic decisions involving foreign powers were taken during that period.
