Commercial LPG cylinder prices have been increased by ₹195.50 from April 1, marking the second straight monthly hike. A 19-kg cylinder in Delhi will now cost ₹2,078.50, up from last month’s rates.
This follows a previous increase of ₹114.50 on March 1, indicating a continued upward trend in fuel costs.
Businesses to Feel the Impact
Higher fuel costs may also lead to increased food prices and operational expenses across sectors.
Relief for Households
Despite the rise in commercial gas prices, domestic LPG rates remain unchanged. A 14.2-kg cylinder continues to cost ₹913 in Delhi.
The last change in household LPG prices was on March 7, when rates were increased by ₹60.
Why Prices Are Rising
The main reason behind the hike is the sharp surge in global oil prices. Ongoing tensions in West Asia have disrupted supply chains, pushing crude oil prices up by nearly 50 percent.
Fuel prices in India are revised monthly by oil marketing companies based on global rates and currency movements.
Jet Fuel Prices Hit Record High
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) has seen a massive spike, crossing ₹2 lakh per kilolitre for the first time.
In Delhi, ATF prices jumped to ₹2,07,341.22 per kilolitre from ₹96,638.14 earlier, more than doubling in value. Even in March, prices had already increased by 5.7 percent.
Petrol and Diesel Stay Stable
Despite rising global oil prices, petrol and diesel rates have not changed.
Petrol is currently priced at ₹94.72 per litre and diesel at ₹87.62 per litre in Delhi. These prices have remained steady since a ₹2 per litre cut last year.
