With the West Bengal Assembly elections approaching, Union Home Minister Amit Shah made a strong and controversial promise — if the BJP comes to power, land for border fencing will be arranged within 45 days.
Big Claim on Border Security
Addressing the media during the release of a “white paper” against the ruling government, Shah said that lack of land allocation has been a major reason why fencing along the Indo-Bangladesh border remains incomplete.
He questioned the role of the state government, asking how the Border Security Force can act effectively without proper land support.
Direct Attack on Mamata Banerjee
Shah directly targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her government of deliberately delaying land allocation for political reasons.
He alleged that illegal infiltration has been allowed to continue and claimed it impacts voting patterns in the state.
“Bengal Is Main Infiltration Corridor”
The Home Minister described West Bengal as the “main corridor” for infiltration in the country and said the BJP is determined to stop it.
He framed the upcoming election as a fight for safety, stability, and protection of citizens’ rights.
Strong Statements on Law and Order
Shah also raised concerns about law and order in the state, especially regarding women’s safety. He claimed that strict action will be taken against offenders if BJP comes to power.
Praise for BJP Leadership in State
During the press conference, Shah praised Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari for leading protests against the ruling government and standing firm despite challenges.
