Congress Demands Immediate Action

The Indian National Congress has come down heavily on the minister, calling the alleged incident “obscene and unethical.” Senior leader Vijay Wadettiwar alleged that the controversy reflects deeper issues within the ruling coalition.

Wadettiwar said the episode could be part of a larger “gang war” among alliance partners, suggesting internal conflicts may have led to the video being leaked. He further claimed that preliminary inputs indicate the clip might have been circulated as part of a blackmail attempt involving individuals linked to the transperson.

Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal termed the video a “glaring example of moral degradation in politics.” He stressed that public representatives are expected to maintain high ethical standards, adding that the alleged conduct undermines public trust.

Sapkal urged Chief Minister Eknath Shinde to take immediate action and remove Zirwal from the cabinet to uphold accountability in governance.

Social activist Anjali Damania also weighed in, emphasizing the need for propriety from individuals holding high public office. She called for a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter, noting that the circulation of the video raises serious concerns about possible misuse and blackmail.

Despite the growing controversy, Narhari Zirwal, a tribal leader representing the Dindori constituency in Nashik district, has not issued any official statement. Attempts to reach him for comment have reportedly been unsuccessful.

Earlier this year, a Food and Drug Administration clerk was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Bureau in a bribery case, while another staff member linked to Zirwal was removed following a sting operation.
