US Signals Major Escalation With Intensified Strikes on Iran

The United States signalled a major escalation in its military campaign against Iran after Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that American forces would launch the most intense round of strikes inside Iran since the conflict began.

Speaking during a press conference at the The Pentagon, Hegseth said Tuesday’s operations would involve a large-scale deployment of fighters, bombers and coordinated precision strikes.

He made the announcement alongside Dan Caine, describing the military action as a “laser-focused, maximum authority mission.”

Why Is the US Increasing Military Strikes on Iran?

Hegseth said the current operations mark the most powerful phase of the American campaign so far.

“Today will be our most intense day of strikes inside Iran,” he told reporters, adding that US forces would deploy the largest number of aircraft and coordinated strikes since the conflict began.

According to the Pentagon, the operations are aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities and preventing further escalation in the region.

Is Iran Becoming Isolated in the Region?

During the briefing, Hegseth claimed that Iran is becoming increasingly isolated internationally.

He said several regional partners had distanced themselves from Tehran, while Iran’s allied militant groups were facing setbacks.

He specifically mentioned proxy groups including:

• Hezbollah
• Houthis
• Hamas

According to the US defence chief, these groups are either weakened or currently inactive amid the ongoing conflict.

US Accuses Iran of Launching Attacks From Civilian Areas

Hegseth also accused Iran of launching missiles from civilian locations such as schools and hospitals, alleging that the country’s leadership was putting innocent lives at risk.

The US defence chief said the American military campaign is designed to target strategic military assets with precision, while avoiding broader civilian damage.

Will the US Launch a Long War in Iran?

Hegseth stressed that the current military campaign would not turn into long-term nation-building operations, unlike previous American wars.

He said Washington had no intention of repeating prolonged military missions seen in earlier conflicts in the Middle East.

Instead, the focus would remain on targeted operations aimed at strategic objectives.

Drone Strike Sparks Fire at UAE Oil Refinery

Meanwhile, tensions in the region escalated further after authorities in Abu Dhabi reported a drone strike linked to Iran.

The attack triggered a fire at an oil refinery in the Ruwais Industrial Complex.

Officials said emergency teams quickly responded to the blaze, and no injuries were reported in the incident.

The development highlights the growing risk of the conflict spreading across energy infrastructure and key industrial sites in the Gulf region.
