Lucknow: A young man has been arrested in Lucknow after police solved the mystery behind the disappearance and death of a local businessman. The incident came to light from the Ashiyana area of the city, where the victim had been reported missing for several days.

The deceased was identified as Manvendra Pratap Singh, who ran a business in the city. He had not been seen since February 20, prompting his family to approach the police.

Neighbours Alert Police

The case took a serious turn after neighbours complained of a foul smell coming from the house. Acting on the information, police teams reached the residence and began a detailed search. During the operation, human remains were recovered from inside the house, leading investigators to suspect foul play.

Son Taken Into Custody

Police detained the victim’s 21-year-old son, Akshat Pratap Singh, for questioning. During interrogation, he allegedly admitted to killing his father following a heated argument in the early hours of February 20. According to police, the dispute was linked to pressure over clearing the NEET examination.

Use of Licensed Weapon

Investigators said the accused claimed he used his father’s licensed firearm during the incident. After the killing, the body was allegedly moved from an upper floor of the house to a ground-floor room in an attempt to hide the crime.

Body Parts Recovered From Multiple Locations

Police revealed that some remains were kept inside a drum within the house, while other parts were allegedly disposed of near Sadarouna. The recovery of remains from different locations helped police piece together the sequence of events.

Senior police officials visited the spot soon after the recovery. A forensic team was called in to examine the house and collect evidence. Officials said the investigation is continuing and further legal action will follow based on forensic and technical findings.
