Handwara: The Indian Army on Sunday felicitated national-level hockey player Hanan Nazir at his residence in Kulangam village of Handwara in Kupwara district, in recognition of his remarkable sporting achievement.
Hanan, who comes from a humble family background, created history by becoming the first and only player from Kupwara district to represent Jammu & Kashmir in the Under-14 National School Hockey Championship held in Madhya Pradesh.
To honour his success, Army personnel visited his home and presented him with words of appreciation and encouragement, acknowledging his hard work and dedication to the sport. The felicitation ceremony was attended by local residents, family members, and neighbours, who expressed gratitude to the Indian Army for supporting and motivating young talent in the region.
Hanan’s journey from a small village to the national stage has become a source of pride for the district and an inspiration for aspiring sportspersons. His achievement reflects how determination, resilience, and commitment can overcome all barriers.
