Mumbai: Senior NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule on Saturday offered a brief yet symbolic reaction to the political developments unfolding in Maharashtra following the swearing-in of Sunetra Pawar as the state’s Deputy Chief Minister. Speaking to reporters in Baramati, Sule chose restraint over commentary, responding with a spiritual chant when asked about the oath ceremony.

After visiting Ajit Pawar’s mother, Asha Pawar, Sule explained that her immediate focus was on parliamentary responsibility rather than state-level politics. She said her visit was personal and rooted in family respect during a sensitive time.

“I met Asha Kaki today. Before leaving, I asked her whether I should travel to Delhi for the budget session. She told me clearly, ‘This is the nation’s budget, you must go,’” Sule said.

Highlighting her role in Parliament, Sule added that her presence in Delhi was essential. “I am the floor leader of my party in Parliament. The budget session begins tomorrow, and my responsibility there cannot be ignored,” she stated.

Supriya Sule is set to attend the Union Budget session for 2026–27, scheduled to begin on February 1. The budget will be presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who is expected to create history by delivering her ninth consecutive Union Budget.

Meanwhile, Sunetra Pawar’s elevation to the post of Deputy Chief Minister has drawn national attention. Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly congratulated her, calling her appointment a milestone for Maharashtra. In his message, the Prime Minister expressed confidence in her leadership and said she would work with dedication for the people of the state while continuing the public service legacy associated with Ajit Pawar.
