Baramati Plane Crash: Black Boxes Found, Multi-Agency Probe Intensifies Into Ajit Pawar Tragedy

Mumbai: Investigators have secured key evidence from the Baramati plane crash site, with both the cockpit voice recorder and the flight data recorder now in official custody. The recovery of the two black boxes is expected to play a crucial role in understanding what went wrong during the final moments of the chartered aircraft that went down near the Baramati airstrip, leading to the passing away of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and others on board.

Soon after the crash, local police registered an accidental death case at Baramati Taluka Police Station. Senior officers confirmed that the case will be transferred to the Maharashtra CID, which will carry forward the legal investigation alongside the technical probe being carried out by aviation authorities. The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau has already taken charge of examining the incident and will analyse flight data, cockpit conversations, and technical records to determine the cause.

Teams from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and forensic experts reached the crash location to inspect debris, assess burn patterns, and document evidence. Officials stated that the aircraft had faced difficulty during landing and had earlier aborted its approach. After attempting to land again, the jet reportedly came down near the edge of the runway, following which it caught fire within seconds.

Besides Ajit Pawar, those on board included two pilots, a flight attendant, and a personal security officer. All occupants lost their lives in the incident. The government has shared a preliminary sequence of events, noting that communication gaps during the final approach and the moments after landing clearance will be closely examined.
