Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday came out in strong support of the Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth, highlighting concerns over recent police action against the religious leader in Uttar Pradesh.
Speaking to the media, Raut said, “The Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth speaks firmly and openly, and that is why some people may not like what he says. Still, he is the Shankaracharya of Jyotish Peeth.”
He expressed alarm over how the Uttar Pradesh government handled the situation, adding, “The way the police attacked the Uttar Pradesh government is very worrying. Those who pretend to follow Hindutva should be especially concerned about this.”
Raut further emphasized the Shankaracharya’s national stature, noting, “He has been given state guest status across the country, and such treatment is troubling.”
