Mumbai: As voting concluded for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut raised serious concerns over the conduct of the polls in Mumbai. He claimed that the voting trend in several parts of the city pointed to deeper irregularities that could impact the fairness of the election.

Raut alleged that names of a large number of voters were missing from electoral rolls in areas traditionally supportive of parties like Shiv Sena (UBT), MNS, and Congress, even though many of them had participated in recent Assembly elections. He also questioned the functioning of Electronic Voting Machines, suggesting that technical issues were reported at multiple booths.

Taking aim at the Election Commission, Raut said repeated complaints from the opposition were allegedly ignored. He questioned the timing of a meeting between senior BJP leaders and Election Commission officials while the Model Code of Conduct was still in force, calling it inappropriate and alarming.
