Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday remembered the profound legacy of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on the occasion of his Parkash Utsav, highlighting the Sikh Guru’s lasting influence on India’s moral and spiritual fabric. The Prime Minister said Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s life continues to guide people towards courage, compassion, and unwavering commitment to justice.

In a message shared on social media, PM Modi described the tenth Sikh Guru as a beacon of righteousness whose teachings transcend time. He noted that Guru Gobind Singh Ji inspired generations to stand firm for truth, defend human dignity, and dedicate themselves to selfless service of society and the nation.

Recalling his earlier visit to Patna Sahib, one of Sikhism’s most revered Takhts and the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the Prime Minister shared photographs from the visit. He said the experience strengthened his resolve to honour the values preached by the Guru and to ensure that his message reaches future generations.

Across the country, devotees marked the Parkash Utsav with deep devotion and celebrations. Gurdwaras were illuminated, special prayers were held, and religious processions such as Prabhat Feri were organised in the days leading up to the festival. The occasion also saw Anand Path recitations, with communities coming together to celebrate the spirit of faith, unity, and sacrifice.

The tribute followed the nationwide observance of Veer Baal Diwas on December 26, a day dedicated to remembering the bravery of Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. The two younger sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji were martyred at a very young age while standing firm for their beliefs, a sacrifice that remains one of the most inspiring chapters in Indian history.

Veer Baal Diwas was formally instituted in 2022 to ensure that the courage and sacrifices of the Sahibzadas remain etched in the nation’s collective memory, especially among the youth.
