Bengaluru: As the power struggle within the Karnataka Congress intensifies, Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy has taken a sharp swipe at the ruling party, calling the ongoing Chief Minister tussle nothing short of political theatre. Speaking to reporters on Saturday, the JD(S) leader—whose party is an ally in the NDA government—criticised the Congress for failing to provide stable governance while internal factionalism continues to dominate headlines.

Refusing to comment directly on who might emerge victorious in the leadership race, Kumaraswamy said the entire episode resembles a staged performance. “I do not want to discuss all these things. Drama is going on… Final stage, what will it become? We are eagerly waiting,” he remarked with sarcasm, hinting that the Congress infighting has reached an embarrassing climax.

Kumaraswamy then shifted his attack towards the state’s administrative performance, alleging that the political chaos has brought governance to a grinding halt. “Where is the development? There is a total collapse in development in Karnataka,” he said, accusing the Siddaramaiah government of failing to deliver on major sectors, including infrastructure, employment generation, and rural programs.

He further claimed that multiple crises—financial strain, farmer distress, and party infighting—have overshadowed every developmental agenda. “Several issues have taken over the government… That has been going on for the last 2.5 years,” he added, signalling that the Congress has spent more energy on internal power equations than on public welfare.
