“Terror Has No Religion”: BJP’s Dr. Tahir Chowdhary Slams Attempts to Communalize Delhi Blast

Jammu: J&K BJP spokesperson Dr Tahir Chowdhary has come out strongly against what he calls “irresponsible and dangerous attempts” to give the Delhi blast a communal colour, asserting that the explosion near Red Fort was a terror attack on India.

Reacting to the latest findings in the ongoing probe, Dr Chowdhary said the fresh forensic evidence, CCTV analysis and recent arrests leave no room for ambiguity about the nature of the attack.

He said the explosion that tore through a Hyundai i20 near Gate No. 1 of the Lal Qila Metro Station was engineered to cause maximum panic and disruption in one of Delhi’s busiest heritage zones.

“People must understand this clearly — the attackers did not target Hindus or Muslims. They targeted India. They targeted every citizen who believes in peace. Terror has no religion, and attempts to link this incident to any community, especially Muslims, are completely baseless,” he said.

Dr Chowdhary stressed that the choice of location was deliberate. “Red Fort is where the country looks every Independence Day. It is a symbol of our democracy and unity. Striking in its shadow is meant to send a message to the nation. That message has nothing to do with communal identity — it has everything to do with destabilising India,” he said.

Appreciating the coordinated efforts of the NIA, Special Cell, NSG and forensic teams, he said the investigation is steadily tightening the net around those involved.

Forensic teams have analysed explosive residues, soil samples and directional impact patterns, while CCTV footage has captured the movements of a suspect seen moments before the blast. 

He said the arrests — including individuals detained from Pulwama — indicate a wider conspiracy and show that the attack was neither random nor impulsive.

Calling the incident “a planned terror strike aimed at a high-footfall area with immense national symbolism”, Dr Chowdhary said invoking UAPA and other stringent provisions was not only justified but essential.

“The nature of explosives, the manner of execution, the timings — everything points to an organised operation. This was a clear attempt to spread fear, not a communal provocation,” he said.

Dr Chowdhary urged the public not to fall for narratives that seek to divide people or demonise communities.

“Terrorists want chaos. They want mistrust. They want to weaken our social fabric. Giving this attack a communal colour is exactly what they want. We cannot allow that,” he said.

Praising the Delhi Police and central agencies for maintaining strict vigilance around heritage and market zones, he called for sustained public cooperation and calm.

“This fight is against terror networks, not against any religion. India must remain united,” he said.

He said that while the Lal Qila blast was a grim reminder of the threat India faces, it has also reaffirmed the country’s resolve.

“Delhi has moved ahead, but it has not forgotten. And India will not forgive those who tried to attack our spirit. Justice will be delivered — without fear, without bias and without delay,” Dr Chowdhary said.
