Delhi: The Lal Qila Metro Station continues to remain shut on Tuesday as a full-scale investigation is underway following Monday evening’s powerful blast near Delhi’s historic Red Fort, which killed at least eight people and injured several others.
In an official statement on X, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced, “Lal Qila Metro Station is closed due to security reasons. All other stations are functional as normal.”
According to Delhi Police sources, the preliminary investigation has revealed a possible link between the blast vehicle — a Hyundai i20 — and Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district. The car, reportedly used in the explosion, is said to have been purchased by a resident from Pulwama.
Officials have recovered CCTV footage showing the suspect’s vehicle entering and exiting the parking area near the Red Fort. “The footage indicates that the suspect was alone at the time of the incident,” sources added.
Security agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Delhi Police Special Cell, have joined hands to trace the origin of the explosives and identify the network behind the attack. The area remains under tight security, with forensic teams continuing to gather evidence.
