Mumbai: The Indian film and music industry is mourning the loss of veteran actress and playback singer Sulakshana Pandit, who passed away on November 6, 2025. She was 69.
Confirming the news, her brother and noted music composer Lalit Pandit expressed grief over the family’s loss. In a statement, he said, “It is with deep sorrow that we share the sad news of our beloved sister, Sulakshana Pandit, who left for her heavenly abode on 6th November 2025. The cremation will be held on Friday, 7th November 2025, at 1:00 PM at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Vile Parle, Mumbai.”
Sulakshana Pandit was a prominent face in the Hindi film industry during the 1970s and 1980s, known for both her acting and her melodious voice. She appeared in several hit films, including Uljhan, Hera Pheri, Khandaan, and Chehre Pe Chehra. As a playback singer, she lent her voice to numerous memorable songs and collaborated with some of India’s greatest music directors.
Belonging to the illustrious Pandit musical family, Sulakshana was part of a legacy that included her brothers Jatin–Lalit, the famous composer duo known for blockbuster hits of the 1990s.
