NDA-Backed Seema Singh’s Nomination Rejected, Major Setback for NDA as RJD’s Jitendra Rai Gains Upper Hand

Patna: In a major twist in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, the Marhaura Assembly constituency has seen the rejection of four candidates’ nominations, including the NDA-backed Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) candidate and Bhojpuri actress-turned-politician Seema Singh. The other disqualified contenders are former JDU district president Altaf Alam Raju (independent), BSP’s Aditya Kumar, and independent Vishal Kumar. Election authorities cited technical discrepancies and errors in nomination documents as the reason for cancellation.

Seema Singh’s disqualification is viewed as a significant blow to the NDA camp, given her popularity and strong fan following in the constituency. Experts now predict that the race has narrowed into a high-stakes contest between RJD’s incumbent MLA Jitendra Rai and Jan Suraaj’s Abhay Singh. Rai, who has represented Marhaura since 2010 and served as a former Bihar minister, is seen as the clear frontrunner following these developments.

Altaf Alam Raju, denied a JDU ticket and contesting independently, was also disqualified, further shaking up the local political landscape. Election officials stressed that all decisions were made after a thorough verification process to ensure fairness.
