Kashmir: In a scathing critique, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the detention of youths in Srinagar for not standing during the National Anthem at the Mushtaq Memorial Cup finals. Mufti likened the incident to coercion, stating, “They make people stand up for the National Anthem on gunpoint. When I was in school, I and my peers would stand up for the National Anthem on our own; no one made us do it on gunpoint.” She called upon Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to immediately release the detained individuals, emphasizing the importance of voluntary patriotism over enforced compliance.
