Flipkart Kicks Off 12th Big Billion Days With Grand Celebrations

Bengaluru: Flipkart, India’s homegrown e-commerce marketplace, kicked off the 12th edition of The Big Billion Days (TBBD) at its Bengaluru campus with a grand midnight celebration. Thousands of Flipsters gathered to mark the beginning of India’s most-awaited festive shopping event, setting the stage for what is expected to be Flipkart’s biggest TBBD yet.

Kalyan Krishnamurthy, CEO, Flipkart Group, set an ambitious vision for TBBD 2025, calling it “a festival of scale and optimism.” Flipkart expects to serve 250–300 million unique visitors during TBBD, and more than 350 million over the festive period. Backed by over 4 lakh people across warehouses, fulfilment centres, and delivery networks, Flipkart will cover 19,500 pin codes across 4,500 locations nationwide.

Pratik Shetty, VP – Growth & Marketing, highlighted the strong early momentum: Demand for high-value categories like electronics and large appliances is surging, aided by recent GST rationalisation. Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities are driving growth, fuelled by vernacular content, regional creators, and immersive shopping formats. Gen Z shoppers, now forming a large share of customers, are engaging with live commerce, influencer showcases, and short-form video, with ~55% YoY growth in app visits. Categories like fashion, beauty, and home are witnessing double-digit growth with increasing premiumisation.

Hemant Badri, Senior VP, Flipkart Group, flagged off the nationwide Wishmaster rally, underlining Flipkart’s delivery preparedness. With 100+ fulfilment centres, nearly 400 micro-fulfilment hubs, and a focus on speed and inclusivity, Flipkart’s supply chain now spans 21,000+ pin codes. Notably, 20% of the workforce in large facilities are women, reflecting Flipkart’s inclusive growth agenda.

On campus, celebrations featured leadership interactions, cultural showcases, wellness sessions, and employee-led activities under the theme “timeless through the ages.” Wellness initiatives blended classic practices like mandala art and sound healing with creative meditation and zentangle workshops. Engagement extended to 24×7 food access, medical support, contests, and entertainment evenings, ensuring Flipsters stay energised throughout TBBD.

Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, noted the buoyant consumer climate, boosted by next-gen GST reforms and rising disposable incomes. Flipkart’s festive hiring created 2.2 lakh additional jobs, while its marketplace now empowers lakhs of sellers, MSMEs, artisans, weavers, and farmers.

“The Big Billion Days is not just India’s largest shopping festival; it is a platform that amplifies opportunities for millions and showcases the vibrancy of India’s digital economy,” he added.

Early indicators suggest this may be Flipkart’s strongest TBBD yet, with mobiles, fashion, beauty, and wearables leading demand. With its dual delivery strategy — traditional and express via Flipkart Minutes — the company is poised to deliver festive joy at scale.
