Washington: In a fiery appeal to NATO allies, former US President Donald Trump has urged sweeping collective action to force an end to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, warning that continued hesitation will only prolong the bloodshed.

Taking to his social media platform Truth Social, Trump issued what he described as “A Letter Sent by President Donald J. Trump to All NATO Nations and the World.” The letter called on NATO countries to stop purchasing Russian oil and to impose heavy tariffs—between 50% and 100%—on Chinese goods until the war concludes.

“I am ready to ‘go’ when you are. Just say when?” Trump wrote, accusing several NATO members of weakening the alliance’s negotiating power with Moscow by continuing oil imports.

Trump insisted that the United States is prepared to impose “major sanctions on Russia” but only if NATO nations commit to parallel measures. He argued that a unified and coordinated response would compel Moscow to end what he described as “this deadly, but ridiculous, war.”

The former president further claimed that China’s influence over Russia gives NATO an opportunity to exert economic pressure. According to Trump, punitive tariffs on Chinese goods should stay in place until the conflict is resolved, only to be lifted once peace is restored.

Trump also took sharp aim at the Biden administration, declaring, “This is not Trump’s war (it would never have started if I was President!). It is Biden’s and Zelenskyy’s war.” He alleged that more than 7,000 lives were lost in the past week alone, adding that swift action could save thousands more.

“If NATO does as I say, the war will end quickly… If not, you are just wasting my time, and the time, energy, and money of the United States,” Trump warned.
