Kulgam Encounter: One Terrorist Killed, Three Army Personnel Injured; Operation Underway

Kulgam: A terrorist was gunned down and three Army personnel, including a junior commissioned officer, sustained injuries during an encounter in the Guddar forest area of Kulgam district on Monday.

Officials said the operation was launched after the Jammu and Kashmir Police shared specific intelligence inputs, prompting a joint search by the Indian Army, J&K Police, and the CRPF.

“Vigilant troops observed suspicious activity and upon being challenged, terrorists opened fire, prompting a fierce exchange of gunfire during which one terrorist has been eliminated and a junior commissioned officer suffered injuries. Operation is in progress,” the Army’s Chinar Corps stated on X (formerly Twitter).

According to reports,, two to three terrorists are believed to be still hiding in the forested region. Additional reinforcements have been deployed as the encounter continues.
