Tokyo: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday highlighted India’s political stability, economic growth, and innovation potential while pitching for stronger economic cooperation with Japan. Addressing the India-Japan Economic Forum in Tokyo, PM Modi urged Japanese investors to partner with India in areas such as manufacturing, technology, green energy, innovation, and skill development.

“The world is not only watching India but also counting on it, as the country marches towards becoming the third-largest economy soon,” the Prime Minister said. He further added, “In India, capital doesn’t just grow, it multiplies. You are all aware of the growth and transformation that have taken place in India over the last 11 years. India has political stability, economic stability, transparency in policy, and predictability. Today, India is the fastest-growing major economy in the world. And, very soon, it is going to become the third largest economy in the world.”

PM Modi arrived in Tokyo on Friday morning to begin his two-day official visit for the 15th India-Japan Annual Summit. He was greeted warmly by members of the Indian community, who welcomed him with traditional cultural performances and enthusiastic cheers. Earlier, PM Modi lauded their commitment to preserving India’s cultural heritage while contributing meaningfully to Japanese society.

During the August 29–30 visit, PM Modi will hold his first formal bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. Both leaders are expected to review the progress of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, with discussions focused on defence and security, trade and investment, digital technology, climate action, and innovation.
