Mumbai: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the country’s first ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) Lab in Mumbai on Tuesday, urging students to prepare themselves for a rapidly changing world shaped by climate change, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing.
“Artificial Intelligence is influencing every sector of life. With industries, lifestyles, and the environment evolving at an unprecedented pace, the children who are the future of India must gear up for a new world,” said the Chief Minister while addressing students at the P. L. Deshpande Academy, Prabhadevi.
The inauguration was followed by the felicitation of winners of a national robotics competition, organised jointly by STEM Learning and Brilio. The event was attended by STEM CEO and Founder Ashutosh Pandit, Brilio Global Head and Senior Director Abhishek Ranjan, along with students and teachers from across the country.
Awards and Recognitions
• The first prize and a cheque of ₹1 lakh was awarded to students of S. D. Ganage School, Pune for their tinkering innovations.
• Jadavpur University, Kolkata secured the second prize, while Rani Saraladevi High School, Bengaluru bagged the third prize, with both teams receiving ₹50,000 each.
• Students from government schools in Meghalaya, Aadugodi, Sarai Khwaja and Haryana were also felicitated for their achievements in model-making and STEM car race competitions.
ESG Lab and STEM Initiatives
Highlighting the importance of the new ESG Lab, CM Fadnavis said it would not only boost scientific curiosity among students but also place India a step ahead in technology and sustainable innovation. “The models presented by the students are very promising, and this lab will play a vital role in shaping the future of science and technology in the country,” he added.
STEM CEO Ashutosh Pandit noted that the institute has been recognised by UNESCO for its contribution to enhancing quality education and promoting sustainable learning. “With India’s first ESG lab, we aim to spark more curiosity among students,” he said.
Brilio’s Senior Director Abhishek Ranjan added that their STEM programs are already operational in over 20 states, delivering mini science centres, astronomy labs, and science labs to schools in remote corners of India. “Our goal is to reach one million children by 2030,” he stated.
STEM Learning currently works with government and aided schools, reaching 20 lakh students and training over 30,000 teachers across rural, tribal, and border regions through practical models and innovative education programs.
