“BrahMos Hai Humaare Paas”: Owaisi Slams Shehbaz Sharif’s Indus Treaty Threat, Warns Pakistan Against ‘Nonsense’

Hyderabad: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has delivered a sharp counter to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent threat over the Indus Waters Treaty, bluntly telling him to “stop talking nonsense” and reminding him that India has BrahMos missiles ready.

Referring to Pakistan’s military vulnerability, Owaisi remarked, “BrahMos hai humaare paas… Shehbaz Sharif was in a swimming costume when he heard nine airbases had been hit. Instead of fixing your country’s problems, you’re threatening India? Enough is enough.”

Sharif had earlier declared that India would not be allowed to take “even a single drop” of Pakistan’s share of water. His warning came after New Delhi put the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians. The move was part of a series of retaliatory measures, including Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir between May 7–10.

Sharif’s aggressive rhetoric was echoed by former foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, who claimed that the treaty’s suspension was an “attack on the Indus Valley Civilisation” and hinted at war if water flows were cut. Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir reportedly went further, warning that Islamabad would destroy any dam India built to control river waters.

Owaisi, however, dismissed these threats as hollow posturing. “Shehbaz Sharif is a Prime Minister, not a street politician. Such language won’t change India’s stance. The era of tolerating terror threats is over,” he told reporters.
