Rs 10 Lakh Hotel Theft Foiled: Accused Arrested from Mumbai Airport Just Before Flight to Dubai

Satara: In a swift and coordinated action, the Satara Local Crime Branch (LCB) arrested the prime accused in a high-value hotel theft case just moments before he was to board a flight to Dubai from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The arrest marks a major breakthrough in a theft involving luxury items worth ₹10 lakh stolen from a renowned hotel in Mahabaleshwar.

The incident came to light after Oxygen Hotel in Mahabaleshwar reported the disappearance of expensive appliances, furniture, and kitchenware during a span of three days in late June. The case raised suspicion of internal involvement due to the nature and execution of the theft.

Based on intelligence inputs and ongoing investigation, police identified a suspect who had allegedly orchestrated the entire heist. As soon as authorities learned he was attempting to flee the country, a special LCB team rushed to Mumbai Airport. With help from local police units at the airport, the accused was apprehended during check-in — narrowly avoiding an international escape.

During initial interrogation, the suspect admitted to selling the stolen goods to scrap dealers in Satara. Acting on this information, the police arrested two more individuals and recovered stolen property. The total value of the seized items, including vehicles used in the transport of the stolen material, is estimated to be ₹17.9 lakh.
