Maharashtra: Bhandara Gets Rs 735 Crore Road Boost, Nitin Gadkari Highlights Bypass Project as Major Milestone

Bhandara: Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari lauded the transformation of Bhandara’s transport infrastructure, highlighting the completion of a ₹735 crore modern bypass project that is set to ease traffic congestion and flood-related woes in the region.

Addressing a public gathering in Bhandara, Gadkari reflected on the long-standing issues faced by locals due to an old bridge over the Wainganga River. He recalled how the bridge would frequently get submerged during the monsoon, halting traffic and sometimes even allowing floodwaters to enter the city itself.

Gadkari noted that the situation had been a major hurdle for commuters and citizens alike. He said that after assuming the role of Minister of Public Works in Maharashtra, efforts were made to resolve this chronic issue by constructing a new, elevated bridge over the river.

Now, as the Union Minister, Gadkari announced the successful development of a modern bypass worth around ₹735 crore. This new infrastructure will divert heavy traffic from the heart of the city, reducing congestion and improving road safety. It is also expected to stimulate economic activity by improving connectivity in the Vidarbha region.

“This bypass will not only ease traffic but also prevent the kind of seasonal flooding that once crippled movement in Bhandara. I wholeheartedly congratulate the people of Bhandara for this significant development,” Gadkari said.
