BJP to Conduct Ward-Wise Review Ahead of BMC Polls

Mumbai: With the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections approaching, the Mumbai unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to undertake a strategic, ward-wise review to bolster its poll preparedness. Mumbai BJP President and State Minister Adv. Ashish Shelar on Saturday announced the appointment of senior party functionaries for this task, along with the formation of a 27-member Election Steering Committee.

The district-level office-bearers appointed will be responsible for conducting in-depth reviews of their assigned areas and submitting comprehensive reports to the Mumbai BJP office by July 7, 2025.

According to the assignments: MLAs Atul Bhatkhalkar and Yogesh Sagar will review the North Mumbai district. MLAs Ameet Satam and Vidya Thakur will look after the North West district. MLA Mihir Kotecha and former MP Manoj Kotak will oversee the North East district. MLAs Parag Alavani and Sanjay Upadhyay have been assigned the North Central district. MLC Prasad Lad and former MLA Sunil Rane will handle the South Central district. Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha and Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar will review the South Mumbai district.

In a parallel development, the BJP’s Election Steering Committee for Mumbai has been constituted, comprising 27 key leaders — including current and former MLAs, ex-corporators, and the city presidents of the BJP Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha. This committee will play a central role in strategising and executing the party’s election campaign in the country’s richest municipal body.

Shelar emphasised the need for “coordinated and focused efforts” to ensure the BJP’s performance aligns with the party’s expectations and the people’s mandate.
