Amid G7 Summit, Trump Urges Tehran Evacuation, Leaves Early Over Iran-Israel Tensions

Calgary: Amid rapidly growing tensions between Israel and Iran, US President Donald Trump on Monday (local time) issued a stern warning urging civilians to evacuate Tehran immediately. The announcement came just before the White House confirmed Trump would be leaving the G7 summit ahead of schedule to “attend to many important matters.”

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump restated his longstanding position on Iran’s nuclear program. He emphasized the potential consequences of inaction and expressed deep frustration over what he described as Iran’s failure to agree to prior diplomatic proposals.

“Iran should have signed the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a shame, and waste of human life. Simply stated, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. I said it over and over again!” Trump wrote. “Everyone should immediately evacuate Tehran!”

In another post, Trump linked the ongoing crisis to his broader political message. “AMERICA FIRST means many GREAT things, including the fact that, IRAN CAN NOT HAVE A NUCLEAR WEAPON. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

Since Thursday night, Israeli forces have been carrying out airstrikes in Tehran. The United States, however, has not taken part in the military operations. Shortly after Trump’s latest warning, reports from Iranian media indicated explosions and intensified air defense activity in Tehran.

The connection between Trump’s social media posts and the reported military activity remains unverified.

Tehran, which has a population of approximately 10 million—17 million including the greater metropolitan area—was under high alert following the US President’s warning, which was issued at around 2 a.m. local time.

The Israeli military claims to have secured air dominance over Tehran. On Monday, it indicated a potential expansion of its targets, moving beyond traditional military and nuclear installations. This included attacks on Iranian state television facilities.
