Dharamgarh: In a major crackdown on corruption, Odisha Vigilance caught Dhiman Chakma, an IAS officer and Sub-Collector of Dharamgarh, red-handed while accepting a ₹10 lakh bribe from a local businessman.
According to officials, Chakma had allegedly demanded ₹20 lakh, threatening the businessman with punitive action if the amount wasn’t paid. Acting on a tip-off, vigilance officers laid a trap and arrested the officer during the bribe transaction.
Following his arrest, a search at Chakma’s residence led to the recovery of ₹47 lakh in unaccounted cash, further intensifying suspicion of deeper corruption links.
