“We Are Not at the Doors with a Begging Bowl”: BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya Hits Out at Pakistan, Warns World on Terrorism Threat

London: In a scathing critique aimed at Pakistan and the international community, BJP MP Samik Bhattacharya asserted that India is not pleading for global support but sounding a serious warning about the growing danger of terrorism. Speaking during a visit to London as part of a multi-party parliamentary delegation, Bhattacharya said, “We are not at the doors of anyone with a begging bowl… We are here to alert all that what is happening with us will happen to you tomorrow.”

His remarks come just weeks after the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on April 22, which claimed 26 lives. The attack has sparked renewed diplomatic efforts by India to draw global attention to cross-border terrorism and the threat it poses beyond South Asia.

Bhattacharya, addressing members of the Indian diaspora and British officials, criticised what he described as hypocrisy among certain countries. “Countries change their stance to sell ammunition; they preach to us about dialogues. They say everything can be sorted out by interaction,” he said, calling for a more consistent and firm global stance against terrorism.

The comments also served as a rebuttal to Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent claim that countries now view Pakistan as a partner in trade and innovation, not a nation holding a “begging bowl.” Speaking at the Command and Staff College in Quetta, Sharif emphasized Pakistan’s relations with China, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Qatar, and the UAE, asserting that Islamabad’s international standing had improved.
