CM outlines Mumbai’s future economic and educational blueprint during IFS officers’ interaction

Mumbai: With the launch of mega infrastructure and educational projects like Vadhvan Port, Edu City, and Knowledge City, Mumbai is poised to become a major global hub for both economic and academic excellence. These projects will usher in a new era of growth for the city and the state, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The Chief Minister was speaking at an interaction with 14 Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officers from the 2013-14 batch, held under the ‘Career Training Program’ at Sahyadri Guest House in Mumbai on Monday.

During the interaction, CM Fadnavis explained that the upcoming Vadhvan Port, which will be three times larger than JNPT, is set to be among the top 10 ports in the world. This port is expected to drive the rise of an entirely new economy in Maharashtra over the next two decades.

He further shared plans for the construction of an Edu City spread over 200 acres, an Innovation City across 300 acres, and a Knowledge City on 1000 acres in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. The Edu City will host 12 premier Indian universities and provide education to nearly 100,000 students. These initiatives will establish Mumbai as a leading technological and academic destination, completely transforming its economic landscape over the next five years, he stated.

The discussion also covered topics such as Maharashtra’s role in foreign policy, international investment opportunities, and the state’s contribution to India’s global development agenda.

Senior bureaucrats including the Additional Chief Secretary and other senior officials were present during the session.
