Patna: In a dramatic turn of events, BJP leader and popular YouTuber Manish Kashyap was allegedly assaulted and detained for nearly three hours by doctors at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) on Monday. The incident has sparked a political and social storm, with Kashyap’s supporters staging a protest outside the hospital.

According to sources, the altercation began when Kashyap visited PMCH to advocate for a patient. During his visit, he reportedly began recording videos to highlight alleged irregularities in the hospital’s functioning. This action led to a confrontation with a female doctor on duty. Matters escalated when other medical staff joined in, objecting to the filming without permission.

Kashyap was allegedly confined in a room within the hospital, his mobile phone taken away, and the footage he recorded was reportedly deleted under pressure. When he finally emerged from the premises, Kashyap had visible injuries on his face. He left the hospital accompanied by his associate, Mani Dwivedi.

Sources claim that Kashyap was released only after he apologised to the hospital staff and following reported intervention by senior BJP leaders. However, no official confirmation of political mediation has been made by the party.

As word of the incident spread, dozens of Kashyap’s supporters assembled outside PMCH, demanding action against the doctors involved. Patna Sadar ASP Diksha said, “No formal complaint has been filed yet. There was some pushing and shoving. Further action will be taken once a complaint is received.”

The controversy adds to Kashyap’s long list of run-ins with the law. In March 2023, he surrendered to the police after being accused of spreading fake videos about attacks on Bihari migrants in Tamil Nadu. He was jailed following an FIR by Bihar Police’s Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) and was granted bail in December 2023.

Kashyap, who joined the BJP during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, has actively campaigned for the party in Jharkhand and Delhi, gaining attention as a digital influencer in the political landscape.
