New Delhi: In a momentous achievement for India, the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita and Bharat Muni’s Natyashastra have officially been included in UNESCO’s prestigious Memory of the World Register. This programme is dedicated to the preservation and promotion of documentary treasures of global cultural significance.
The Ministry of Culture announced the recognition on X (formerly Twitter) on April 18, highlighting the international acknowledgment of these iconic works as a part of the world’s invaluable heritage.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed immense pride following the announcement, calling it “a proud moment for every Indian across the world.” In his statement, the Prime Minister emphasized, “The inclusion of the Gita and Natyashastra in UNESCO’s Memory of the World Register is a global recognition of our timeless wisdom and rich culture. The Gita and Natyashastra have nurtured civilization, and consciousness for centuries. Their insights continue to inspire the world.”
