Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has demanded an apology from stand-up comedian Kunal Kamra over his recent joke targeting Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Fadnavis asserted that any insult or defamation of state leaders would not be tolerated, warning of strict action against those who cross the line under the pretext of comedy.

Kamra, known for his sharp political satire, recently mocked Shinde’s political defection in his stand-up routine, referring to him as a ‘gaddar’ (traitor) and using a parody of a Bollywood song. His remarks triggered outrage from the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), with party leaders issuing threats, filing police complaints, and even vandalizing the venue where Kamra’s show was filmed.
