‘Nayak Nahi, Khalnayak Hoon Main’: RJD Targets Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Over National Anthem Row

Patna: The political battle in Bihar intensified on Saturday as the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, pasting posters outside the residence of former CM Rabri Devi with the words “Nayak nahi, khalnayak hoon main” (I am not a hero, I am a villain) – a famous Bollywood song lyric.

The move comes in response to a viral video showing Nitish Kumar talking and gesturing while the national anthem was being played at an event in Patna. The RJD accused him of disrespecting the anthem, insulting Mahatma Gandhi, and demeaning women, escalating tensions between the ruling alliance and the opposition ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections in October.

RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav took to social media to attack the Bihar CM, stating, “At least please do not insult the national anthem, Hon’ble Chief Minister. You insult youth, students, women, and elderly people every day. Sometimes you clap on Mahatma Gandhi’s martyrdom day and mock his sacrifice, and now you’re clapping during the national anthem!”

In a sharp personal dig, Tejashwi further claimed, “You are not mentally and physically stable even for a few seconds. Your presence in such an unconscious state is a serious concern for the state. Do not insult Bihar like this again and again.”
