Dehradun: In a horrific accident, a speeding Mercedes ran over four laborers, killing them on the spot and injuring two others near the Sai Temple on Rajpur Road in Dehradun on Wednesday (March 12). The luxury car, reportedly carrying four to five passengers, was coming from Mussoorie at high speed when it lost control, hitting pedestrians and a scooter rider.

Eyewitnesses described a scene of devastation, saying the car was moving dangerously fast before the driver lost control. “The impact was so severe that people were thrown several meters away,” a witness recounted.

The car, bearing a Chandigarh registration number, fled the scene immediately after the crash. Police rushed to the spot, sent the injured to the hospital, and collected bodies for post-mortem. Officials are now analyzing CCTV footage to trace the vehicle and identify the driver.

Authorities have warned that reckless driving has become a growing menace in Dehradun, with similar deadly crashes occurring in recent years. “Despite past tragedies, speeding and negligent driving continue to take innocent lives,” a police official stated.
