Chandigarh: Former Haryana Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda downplayed the BJP’s sweeping victory in the Haryana municipal elections, stating that the ruling party had won such polls before and there was “nothing new” in the results.

“BJP won before also. What is new in this? We never said we contested these elections seriously… Even when I was CM, I never participated in Panchayat elections. Only brotherhood works in these polls,” Hooda said, brushing off the BJP’s triumph as insignificant. He further emphasized that Congress hadn’t lost any of its own seats, as “mostly independent candidates contest these elections.”

Meanwhile, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini hailed the victory, linking it to PM Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’ (Developed India). “Our local body government and this triple-engine government will play a crucial role in fulfilling PM Modi’s vision,” he asserted.
