New Delhi: The Congress on Monday claimed that the Union Finance Ministry has debunked the BJP’s “lies” regarding USAID funding, asserting that none of the US agency’s projects in India are linked to voter turnout. The BJP, on the other hand, has accused Congress and Rahul Gandhi of colluding with foreign forces to undermine India.

According to the Finance Ministry’s annual report for 2023-24, USAID is currently implementing seven projects in partnership with the Government of India, with a total budget of USD 750 million. “Not a single of these projects has to do with voter turnout,” said Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, emphasizing that all the initiatives are being carried out in collaboration with the central government.

The report further reveals that for the financial year 2023-24, USAID allocated USD 97 million (approximately Rs 825 crore) for these projects.
