New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister and AAP leader Atishi on Wednesday described the ongoing Assembly elections as a fight beyond politics, calling it a battle of principles. Speaking from her Kalkaji constituency, where she is contesting, Atishi said, “This is not just any election. This is a battle between good and evil, between governance and hooliganism. Wherever we go, the people of Delhi are standing with development.”

She accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of resorting to unfair means and alleged that the Delhi Police was favoring the opposition. “Delhi Police is openly allowing the BJP to manipulate the election. On one side, there is BJP’s hooliganism, and on the other, the full support of Delhi Police,” she claimed.

Atishi further alleged that cash meant to influence voters was found in multiple locations linked to BJP functionaries in her Kalkaji constituency. “We caught money being distributed, the Election Commission’s flying squad came, but the Delhi Police did not intervene,” she stated.

Urging voters to turn out in large numbers, she appealed, “Vote for better facilities—schools, healthcare, free electricity, and bus travel. Vote for progress.”

Meanwhile, voter turnout remained sluggish in the early hours, with only 8.10% recorded by 9 AM, according to the Election Commission of India. The North East district led with 10.70%, while the New Delhi district recorded the lowest turnout at 6.51%.

Polling across Delhi’s 70 Assembly constituencies and by-elections in one seat each in Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh commenced at 7 AM under tight security arrangements.
