New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday declined to urgently hear a plea challenging the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)’s poll promise of providing a monthly stipend of ₹2,100 to women under the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Yojana scheme. The court, led by Justice Jyoti Singh, dismissed the plea for an “early disposal” of the petition, which is now scheduled for hearing on January 30.
The court observed that the matter had been passed over three times during a previous hearing due to the petitioner being unrepresented, and there was no sufficient ground to allow the urgent request.
The petitioner’s counsel had urged the court to take up the matter promptly, arguing that AAP was continuing to publicize the scheme to attract voters ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. The elections are set to take place on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.
