New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India on Wednesday provided interim relief to Puja Khedkar, a former Indian Administrative Service (IAS) trainee, by granting protection from arrest in a case where she is accused of forging documents to gain eligibility for the 2022 Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.

A bench comprising Justices BV Nagarathna and Satish Chandra Sharma issued notice to the Delhi government and other concerned parties on Khedkar’s plea challenging the decision of the Delhi High Court, which had earlier rejected her anticipatory bail application.

The apex court directed that no coercive action, including arrest, should be taken against Khedkar until the next hearing, which is scheduled for February 14, 2025. The court’s order stated, “Till next date of hearing, no coercive steps to be taken against petitioner (Khedkar).”
