Delhi Chief Minister Atishi Marlena on Thursday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of conspiring to hinder the work of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Speaking at a press conference, Atishi claimed that Kejriwal’s arrest was a deliberate attempt to derail the initiatives being implemented by his government.
“At a time when Arvind Kejriwal was driving transformative policies for Delhi, a conspiracy was hatched to stop his work. This led to his arrest, and following that, essential public services such as pensions and salaries were halted, and even sewer water disposal was affected,” Atishi alleged.
She added that after Kejriwal’s release, the government resumed its work on a “war footing,” with significant decisions being taken during cabinet meetings. Highlighting one such initiative, Atishi announced the restart of the Electric Vehicle (EV) policy aimed at combating pollution in the capital.
“For 10 years, the AAP government has consistently worked to improve the lives of Delhi’s residents, introducing innovative policies to modernize the city. Despite the hurdles placed in our path, we remain committed to delivering results,” Atishi said.
The EV policy, which was briefly stalled, focuses on increasing the adoption of electric vehicles to curb pollution levels in Delhi. Atishi also emphasized the AAP government’s broader efforts, including advancements in healthcare, education, and infrastructure, which she claimed were unmatched by other political parties.
The BJP has not yet responded to Atishi’s allegations, but the comments have sparked a fresh round of political debates between the two parties. With the AAP positioning itself as a leader in urban governance and innovation, Atishi’s remarks underline the party’s determination to push forward despite challenges.
Observers note that the AAP-BJP rivalry is likely to intensify as Delhi prepares for upcoming civic and assembly elections, with governance and public welfare taking center stage in the political discourse.
