Actor and filmmaker Arbaaz Khan has expressed concern following the shocking assassination of former Maharashtra MLA and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Baba Siddique. Siddique, a close associate of Salman Khan, was shot dead on October 12 by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Mumbai’s Bandra area. The assassination has sent shockwaves throughout the country and the Bollywood fraternity, particularly because of Siddique’s ties to the film industry.

Arbaaz, who is busy promoting his upcoming film Bandaa Singh Chaudhary starring Arshad Warsi and Meher Vij, spoke about the tragedy in an interview with Zoom. Reflecting on the incident, he said, “We are doing fine. I wouldn’t say that we are doing absolutely alright because there is a lot happening right now, in the family. Of course, everyone is worried.”

Arbaaz further added, “I am committed to promoting Bandaa Singh Chaudhary. It’s releasing on October 25 and I’ve to make sure that the film also goes out. There’s a lot happening but I’ve to do what I’ve to do.”

Siddique’s murder occurred amidst heightened tensions, especially given the previous threats made by the Bishnoi gang against Salman Khan. In April 2024, the gang fired bullets at Salman’s residence, Galaxy Apartments, escalating the fear surrounding the actor and his close circle. The Mumbai Crime Branch has revealed that three shooters fired a total of six rounds at Siddique, three of which fatally struck him.

Siddique, who had significant ties with Bollywood celebrities, was laid to rest with full state honors at Bada Qabrastan on October 13. His death has left many shocked and heartbroken, with police now investigating various angles and motives behind the killing.

Just a day after the assassination, the Bishnoi gang took responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post, claiming Siddique was killed due to his alleged links with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The post also warned individuals connected to Salman Khan, stating that they would face consequences.

The tragic killing of Siddique has not only left a void in Maharashtra’s political landscape but also cast a shadow over the film fraternity, where he had built strong relationships over the years. The investigation into the case continues as police explore all possible motives behind the targeted attack.
