Ayodhya’s Ram Temple chief priest, Acharya Satyendra Das, has sparked controversy by revealing that laddoos from the Tirupati temple were distributed as prasadam during the pran prathistha (consecration) ceremony held on January 22 earlier this year. This statement comes in the wake of allegations regarding the presence of animal fat in laddoos from the renowned Tirupati temple, prompting calls for a thorough investigation.

“I do not know how many laddoos were brought. The trust would know that. But, whatever laddoos came, the prasad was distributed among the devotees. The reports on contamination point to a dangerous conspiracy,” Acharya Satyendra Das told India Today, emphasizing the need for clarity on the matter.

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which oversees the Sri Venkateswara temple, reportedly dispatched over one lakh laddoos for the grand ceremony attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and around 8,000 dignitaries. The event marked a significant moment for the Ram Temple and was expected to be a festive occasion for devotees.

However, the Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, the trust responsible for managing the Ram temple, has denied the distribution of laddoos. Champat Rai, the trust’s general secretary, asserted that only cardamom seeds were given as prasadam during the ceremony. “We only distributed cardamom seeds to the devotees. I went to Tirupati once in my life in 1981, and it is not proper for me to comment on the controversy,” Rai stated, distancing the trust from the allegations.

The conflicting accounts have raised concerns, especially amid the ongoing investigation into the alleged contamination of laddoos at the Tirupati temple. The controversy highlights the sensitive nature of religious practices and the potential ramifications of misinformation within the community.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes will be on the Centre’s investigation report regarding the Tirupati laddoos, which could provide clarity on this contentious issue. The Ram Temple’s significance in Indian culture and politics ensures that any developments will be closely monitored by both devotees and the public alike.
