The West Bengal Police swiftly rebuffed claims made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Malviya regarding the state being a sanctuary for terrorists under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s governance.
In response to Malviya’s assertion on social media that West Bengal had become a safe haven for terrorists, the West Bengal Police took to Twitter to refute the allegations, labeling them as falsehoods. The exchange of accusations stemmed from Malviya’s remarks following the arrest of two chief suspects in the Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe blast by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Malviya had alleged that Mamata Banerjee’s leadership had facilitated a conducive environment for terrorist activities in West Bengal.
The NIA’s arrest of the two suspects near Kolkata marked a significant development in the investigation into the cafe blast, which had resulted in injuries to nine individuals.
However, West Bengal Police refuted Malviya’s claims, highlighting their proactive role in apprehending the suspects in collaboration with central intelligence agencies.
