The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) encountered a setback as Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Pratap Singh announced his resignation from the party’s primary membership on March 16, just ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Singh, representing Madhya Pradesh, tendered his resignation letter to BJP President J P Nadda and State President V D Sharma.

Singh’s decision to step down from the BJP was communicated via the social media platform X, where he posted his resignation letter. The move comes amid growing discontent within the party and dissatisfaction with its candidate selection process for the impending Lok Sabha polls.

Appointed to the Upper House of Parliament by the BJP in March 2018, Singh’s tenure as a Rajya Sabha member is set to conclude on April 2. However, he was not nominated for re-election by his party.

Expressing his frustration with the BJP’s candidate selection process, Singh disclosed his desire to contest the Sidhi Lok Sabha seat. However, his aspirations were not fulfilled as the BJP fielded Rajesh Mishra instead.
