Senior politician Sharad Pawar launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a speech on Tuesday, alleging that the PM’s presence in the Rajya Sabha during discussions concerning common people and policy decisions is limited to a mere 20 minutes. Pawar, who was speaking at an event to unveil the memorial of slain Leftist leader Govind Pansare in Kolhapur, also dismissed PM Modi’s symbolic gesture of bowing down at the Parliament door as mere theatrics.
Pawar emphasized the need for a unified stance against what he described as “regressive” forces, without explicitly naming the Prime Minister. He highlighted concerns about the misuse of power in India, citing instances of censorship, suppression of dissenting voices, and constraints on freedom of expression.
The veteran politician, who heads the NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), formed after a factional split within the party, accused the government of leveraging central agencies like the Enforcement Directorate for political purposes.
